Meet the team
Karen qualified as a Solicitor in 1985 and mainly looks after our Employer clients although she also advises Employee clients on their Settlement Agreements.
Her interest in employment law was sparked in the early years of her career whilst working in the public sector. In 1994, with 3 young children and a brand new set of Employment Law Encyclopaedias installed in what was once her dining room, she set up her specialist employment law Firm. The Firm has grown to the practice that it is today and Karen herself is widely recognised as a specialist in her field.
Karen is a member of the Employment Lawyers’ Association and the Law Society. Outside of work, her passion is theatre. She is the brains behind Encore Theatre Company and Encore Junior Theatre, both of which she runs, along side being their regular show Director.
Meg qualified as a barrister in 1992 at Middle Temple. She spent over 15 years working as an employed barrister within the private and public sectors, obtaining extensive experience in all areas of Employment Law, specialising particularly in TUPE, whistle-blowing, discrimination and unfair dismissal.
Meg loves advocacy and is never happier than when she’s knee deep in Tribunal case papers. She has successfully represented both employers and employees in Employment Tribunal hearings, providing expert advice on tactics as well as employing her advocacy skills, and also has experience in the Employment Appeal Tribunal.
She is a member of the Industrial Law Society, European employment Lawyers’ Association, Employment Lawyers’ Association and the Institute of Employment Rights. In her spare time, Meg enjoys opera and cycling.
Lorna started her legal career as a legal secretary before qualifying first as a Legal Executive and later as a solicitor in 1997.
She initially practised in general civil litigation but decided about 20 years ago to specialise in employment law. What attracted her to this area is that it affects both businesses and employees, but behind it all are individuals.
Lorna is a member of the Employment Lawyers’ Association. She has previously worked as a lecturer at Kingston College teaching Employment and Immigration law and for a national training organisation teaching employment law to other lawyers.
Lorna generally advises our Employee clients, including advising and negotiating Settlement Agreements.
In her spare time Lorna sings in several choirs, plays netball and has qualified as a life-coach.
